German Exchange Student

It's official -- we will be hosting another German student this spring. His name is Lucas and he is 17 years old. Because we are a host family for him, his family will host Andrea in Germany next year. Andrea is excited about this; she has wanted to do this ever since we hosted our first German exchange student a few years ago.

I'm Engaged!!!

On June 6th through the 9th I went to Utah to visit Matt who just got home from his mission only two days prior to my visit. He had no idea I was coming and went to the airport with his sister (lara) and Mom (Rayleen) thinking he was picking up an uncle. When he saw me coming out of the terminal he just about flipped his lid. He couldn't believe I was there when he was just talking to me just hours before about when he was going to come out to Colorado Springs to see me. Seeing him for the first time in 2 1/2 years felt great. I Still wanted to be
with him but I didn't want to rush anything.

After my trip to Utah Matty and I started planning his trip to visit me in Colorado Springs for my 21st b-day since he missed three of the others while we were together in high school and while he was on his mission. He came out to the Springs on the 8th of July and stayed till the 13th. While he was here I was sick for three days! I was sick on my b-day which sucked but it still went great since I got an engagement ring for my b-day.

I guess I should tell everyone how he proposed. It wasn't anything big with tons of people around. It was just him and me. We were lying on my bed talking. I was trying to make him feel guilty about me moving to Utah. I was telling him about how many great friends I've made and how I love the Stockton’s (the wonderful couple I'm staying with) and the beautiful mountains and hiking out here. I was kidding of course. I wanted to be with Matt. I was planning on moving to Utah to be closer to him to see how things would work out with us and if things went well we'd get married. I wasn't expecting what happened next. He said to me, "Well, maybe your b-day present will change your mind." I told him his b-day gift to me was his flight out here. He told me that he wanted to give me something special. That's when he pulled out the ring. All I did was laugh and smiled big and said, "Are you serious!!!" Obviously he was serious. :) And I obviously said yes.

We are getting married November 28th in the Las Vegas Temple at 11:00 a.m in the morning. We will have a reception around 5 or 6 p.m in Vegas and then a small open house in Kaysville, Utah about a week or so after that. All the planning is exciting but stressful at the same time. We've got a pretty small budget for everything and I can't find a dress I like anywhere. I take that back...I found a dress that is PERFECT in everyway except for one thing. The Price. The damage is $1000! OUCHIE! Oh well, I guess I just gotta find something cheap and close to what I want.

I'm hoping that as much family and friends as possible can come. I'd love to see you all! I know it will be hard for a ton of people to make it since this is the day after thanksgiving. But we thought it would be nice to have a Thanksgiving dinner on the 27th with his family and mine as our rehearsal dinner so that our families can meet.

I'll be moving to Utah Aug. 14th so that Matt and I can plan the wedding together rather than in separate states...and cuz I want to be with him. This distance stuff sucks and it's extremely hard. I'm so excited to go out there but I still love it in the Springs and it's going to be so hard to leave. I love being close to Sarah even though we hardly get the chance to hang out and the Stockton's are wonderful. They've done so much for me. They're like family to me.

Well, that's enough babbling outta me. I love you all so much and I miss you.

XOXO

BRENYD'S 1st BIRTHDAY PIX!

Ashley and I planned a ZOO theme party for Brendyn's 1st birthday. We spent hours and late nights (not recommended) drawing, painting and hanging the zoo animals. There was a lion, zebra, monkey, giraffe, turtle and even a snake at our "Sellers Zoo". And if you were there you would say it was a zoo 16 kids and 24 adults. It was fun! Brendyn woke up from his nap to everyone there. He loved coloring with his cousins and all the kids. He especially enjoyed the enormous cupcake Mom made for him. OUR LITTLE BOY IS ONE YEAR OLD!!

Ok....ok....ok....

I know I haven't posted anything in like FOREVER! And I get so much flack about it from EVERYONE! So here it goes....

The reason I haven't posted anything for a long time is because we've had a hard 2007...like everyone in America, so I decided to help Josh pay some medical bills and I picked up a part time job at a local convenient store. I was working grave yard 3-4 days a week, but they have recently put me on days just on Fridays and some Saturdays. I could quit now that we've gotten our income taxes and have payed off most of our medical debt, but I realized how much I missed the Adult world. So as long as it doesn't interfere with my 2 other full time jobs as Mother and Wife I'll keep working there. And for those of you worried about me working grave yard there....don't ;o) It was on a busy corner, next to the freeway with 2 other gas stations at the same intersection. AND we had a security guard for some warehouses nearby take their 30min breaks every 2 hours at our store and they got free drinks and donuts....so it LOOKED like we had security ;o)

We've done some fun things as a family so far in 2008....as most of you know 8 is Josh and mines favorite numbers so we have hi hopes for this year. Just hopefully not too hight ;o) We went to Arizona for a My Father-in-laws daughters sealing and we went to San Diego for David & Jennifer's sealing. While in San Diego we went to the Zoo. My first time at a really big Zoo (unless you count when Grandma & Grandpa Ross took Bev and me to Bush Gardens in Florida when I was 10) I think Savannah had more fun playing with the plants, when she wasn't throwing a temper tantrum....they're not called the "Terrific Two's" you know.

By the way......Sarah, Tracey, and Rabecca...and anyone else for that matter...I am really bad at taking pictures and don't have any pictures of our trip to CA or the Zoo. The only ones I took were at the beach and we were only there for like 10min to watch the sun set...;o( So if you have any pictures....PLEASE send them to me....thanks...

Well I'll get going now, not because I don't have anything to say; but my hands are about to fall off ;o)

I love you all and I'll hopefully write more in the future....

Robbery!!!

My roommate, Melissa called me around 10:00 on Friday in a panic. Our apt was broken into! I couldn't believe it. I was in total shock.
I immediately went straight home. As soon as I walked up to our apt door I got all shaky. Our door panel was shattered and there was shards of wood in our living room. That door locks, but the panel was never very secure.
The police officer was questioning my Melissa when I got there and she was histarical. She was walking around jabbering on calling people and the officer kept trying to calm her down and have her sit.
They stole my $1,800 laptop, jewelry, dads old 35 mil camera, both my money banks, kirstin's laptop and digital camera, her Ihome, Melissa's digital camera but left all these other valuables like the tv, dvd player, cd's, dvd's, stereo and etc. which lead the police officer and us to believe that it was someone that knows us or someone that's been in our apt. before. I have a suspicion that it's the maintenance guys because they are the only people that we do not trust who's been in our apt with us not there. All of our stuff that was taken was stuff that was lying around but they still went through our apt and took clothes out of drawers, messed up the beds, and rummaged through things. Kirstin's wallet was just sitting on her bed and they didn't take that. Kirstin's and my check books were just lying around and they didn't even take those. Melissa thinks it was her ex-boyfriends brothers but I think it could have been anyone. The police officer dusted for finger prints and found nothing. They were wearing gloves. I say "They" because the officer talked to the lady below us who said she heard at least two people in our apt at around 9:10. This kinda scares me because Melissa got home at 9:45 which means they weren't in the apt. long.
:(

This sucks. I went around looking for different apts to move into today with Sarah but Kirstin and Melissa want to stay in the apt. I have NO desire to stay there. Not after that. Those people know where I live and what they left behind. what if they come back while one of us are home?

This situation really bothers me because my life was on my laptop. My music, my journal, my pictures from forever ago which are not replaceable...everything. :(

I just thought I'd let everyone know what happened because I'm sure you are all hearing just bits and pieces. I love you guys and thank my heavenly father that none of us were home when they got there.

Christmas time at the Rockwood home!
